Description

This article recalls 1942, a civil rights case that invovled Latinos, as well as the more recent Rodney King beating. It took place at a gravel pit near Atlantic and Slauson boulevards, where young Latinos used to swim which they called"Sleepy Lagoon." The same police brutality echoes throughout the Justice for Janitors movement, one markedly in Century City where 16 demonstrators left with broken bones.
